Phillips finished the 2016 season with a disappointing 3-8 record. With their 3-3 region record and a third place finish in Class 1A region eight, the Bears earned a spot in the playoffs in 2016. Phillips's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Decatur Heritage Christian by a score of 35-8.

The Bears lost as many games as in any season since 2010.

Since 2010, Phillips has gone a combined 36-40. Their 47.0% winning percentage ranks 24th in Class 1A over the past seven seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Phillips has managed to compile a record of 96-174. Their 36.0% winning percentage ranks 45th in Class 1A and 311st in the AHSAA.

The Bears are led by head coach Alex Lindley who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 3-8 record in his first season at Phillips. Under his direction the Bears have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Lindley.

Coach Lindley's overall record as a head football coach in one season stands at 3-8 (27.3%).

The Phillips Bears will play in Class 1A region eight during the 2017 season.

The Bears will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region eight this season.

The Bears open the 2017 season on the road against non-region opponent Meek on Friday, August 25 at Meek Field. Last year the Meek Tigers finished with an overall record of 5-5 and in fifth place in Class 1A region seven.
